Starta Glycol BS6580 Blue provides good and long-lasting corrosion protection for the most common metals in cooling systems: copper, tin, brass, steel, cast iron and aluminium. The glycol has a lifetime in passenger cars up to 10,000 miles and in heavier vans up to 20,000 miles or a maximum of three years, whichever comes first. Starta Glycol BS6580 Blue is based on ethylene glycol and is free from silicate, amine, phosphate, borate and nitrite and has special organic additives (OAT) to protect against corrosion, oxidation and reduce cavitation tendencies. The glycol also meets the requirements regarding 2-EHA in the latest revision of the CLP regulation. The glycol is toxic and may not be consumed, but the product is biodegradable and the release of smaller amounts does not cause disturbances in the treatment plants' decomposition steps. The glycol is concentrated and must be mixed with water, for best corrosion protection a minimum of 33% mixing is recommended. The glycol is mixed with water to the desired antifreeze and then topped up in the cooling system. Best function is obtained if battery water (Deionized/distilled) is used for the mixture. Starta Glycol BS6580 Blue is miscible with most other coolant glycols on the market that are based on ethylene glycol.

Starta Glycol BS6580 Blue is a coolant for most combustion engines' cooling systems. The glycol can also be used as corrosion protection in closed waterborne heating and cooling systems.
