Additional information

Product information
  • Product description
Hagmans Window Paint is a semi-gloss high-quality window paint based on acrylic, specially adapted for the very specific requirements placed on paint for painting wooden windows both outdoors and indoors. A window paint must be able to withstand very high and low temperatures on one side, as well as fluctuations in humidity, while on the other side having a constant climate. The product is characterized by its very good resistance to UV radiation, which ensures that it retains gloss and color and provides a beautiful and maintenance-free surface for many years. It is also formulated to handle both the vertical and horizontal surfaces found on a window frame, as well as to cover sharp edges effectively. It also provides a hard and resistant surface with low thermoplasticity.
  • Area of application
The product is suitable both for new wood, which should be primed with Hagmans Utegrund Kombi, and for wooden surfaces previously painted with oil paint.

Application
  • Before painting

Always start by reading the instructions on the paint can and remember to be thorough from the start. Good tools and careful sub-work are the prerequisites for a successful painting result. Stir the paint well from the bottom before you start painting. Air and surface temperature is also important for the final result, do not paint if it is colder than +5°C. The substrate must be clean, dry and firm. Check that the substrate is sufficiently dry before painting, maximum 16% moisture content. Do not paint on sunny surfaces or if there is a risk of rain in the next 24 hours or dew within 1-2 hours after painting is finished. Old linseed oil/linseed oil paint can cause linseed oil blisters.

Untreated wood that has been outside for more than 4 weeks must be washed and disinfected and loose gray wood fibers must be removed. Then prime with Hagmans Utegrund Kombi.

Previously painted surfaces are washed with products intended for washing before painting and are then allowed to dry well. In case of fungus and algae infestation, the surface must be treated with Hagmans Algtvätt. Loose paint and loose wood fibers must be scraped/steel brushed away. Prime clean wooden surfaces.

  • Painting

Hagmans Window Paint is applied with a suitable brush and worked well into the substrate. Be careful not to paint too thickly, preferably 2 thin coats rather than one thick, and work the paint well into the surface. The paint can also be rolled but must then be finished with a brush. This also applies when spraying, in which case the paint is also thinned with 5-10% water.
Wait to fully close the window until the paint is completely dry through. A tip is to place a matchstick between the sash and frame for the first few days.

  • After painting

Wipe the tools thoroughly before cleaning them in water. Seal the can tightly after use and keep out of reach of children. Liquid paint residues should not be poured into the drain but taken to the local recycling center.

  • Maintenance

Use Hagmans Maintenance Wash to clean the surface. Never use alcohol when cleaning paint or varnish.
