Application
-
Before painting
The substrate must be solid, dry, and well cleaned, steel-brushed and/or sanded. Loose, porous, and deteriorated wood should be removed. Stir the oil well from the bottom before you start painting. The temperature of the substrate is also important for the final result. Do not paint in direct sunlight or if it is colder than +5°C.
-
Painting
Oil the surface with a brush or cloth until the surface is saturated. Wait a few minutes and then wipe off the excess oil with a cloth or sponge. The wood oil should penetrate the surface, not form a film on top. The high solids content means that the oil is not suitable as a primer for subsequent painting. Repeat the treatment as needed when the surface starts to dry out. Sunny sides and unsaturated wood may need to be oiled several times a year.
-
After painting
Wipe the tools thoroughly before cleaning in paint thinner or aliphatic naphtha. Seal the can tightly after use and keep out of reach of children.
NOTE! Cloths soaked in teak oil can spontaneously ignite and must therefore be rendered harmless by being placed in water or burned.
