Application
  • Mixing ratio

Stålplast Chemical Metal comp. A is thoroughly mixed with 2-3% hardener comp. B on, for example, a mixing board. Using too little or too much hardener will deteriorate the properties of Hagmans Chemical Metal. Do not mix more at a time than what will be used within 5 minutes.

  • Pretreatment

Thoroughly clean the surface to be coated. Sand away rust and old paint. Make sure the repair surface is completely dry.

  • Application

The surface(s) to be repaired or bonded must be dry and free from dirt, dust, oil, wax, grease, or the like. Degrease with thinner or Hagmans Silicone Remover and wipe off. For most materials, the best adhesion is obtained if the surface is first sanded with coarse sandpaper/abrasive paper. When sealing leaking fuel tanks, radiators, pipes, water tanks, apply a layer of Chemical Metal at least 5 mm thick over the entire repair surface plus 3-4 cm beyond the repair area, to achieve the best result. After curing (approx. 15 minutes), it is recommended to apply an additional layer. Sand between each layer. For the repair of pipes exposed to constant pressure, reinforcement with fiberglass mesh is recommended. Impregnate a strip of fiberglass with pre-mixed Chemical Metal and wrap it around the pipe.

  • After treatment

Can be sanded and drilled after about 15 minutes. Withstands temperatures between –40 °C and +130 °C.
