Product information
  • Product description
Hagmans Terrace Glaze is a tintable, extremely deep-penetrating terrace glaze based on water-thinnable rich alkyd. Terraces, especially in glazed color, are among the most difficult to make nice and durable. The combination of a horizontal surface exposed to all weather changes, while also being a floor that has to bear weight, places extremely high demands on the treatment. The product's function is to penetrate the wood and eliminate the water's ability to penetrate. It also contains the maximum amount of wood-protecting additives to further enhance this protection. The product meets all requirements and provides the foundation for a resistant and water-repellent surface. All glaze treatments should be regarded as maintenance painting that should be repeated at regular intervals. The darker the color chosen, the longer the maintenance interval, but expect every other or every third year.
  • Area of application
The product is suitable for treating both new, previously untreated, as well as pressure-impregnated or previously oiled wood. The product penetrates the wood and protects the substrate against drying out and cracking, and counteracts growth.

Application
  • Before painting

Always start by reading through the instructions on the can and remember to be thorough from the beginning. Good tools and careful preparation are essential for a successful painting result. Stir the paint well from the bottom before you start painting.
Air and surface temperature are also important for the final result. Do not paint if it is colder than +5°C.
The surface must be clean, dry, and firm, wire-brushed and/or sanded. Remove loose, porous, and deteriorated wood and wood fibers.
Wash previously painted surfaces with facade detergent and rinse with water.
If the surface is affected by mold, it should be treated with Hagmans Algae Cleaner.

  • Painting

Use an appropriate brush for applying oil and stain. Paint 1-2 boards at a time.
The deck stain should penetrate well into the wood without forming a film. Avoid shiny spots on knots and saturated wood by wiping, after a few minutes, with a cloth very lightly moistened with water. The deck stain must not form a layer on the surface of the wood but should completely penetrate it.
Be especially careful to treat joints and end grain.

  • After painting

Wipe the tools thoroughly before cleaning them in water. Seal the can tightly after use and keep out of reach of children. Liquid paint residues should not be poured into the drain but taken to the local recycling center.
